Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, first released in 1977 this science fantasy film written and directed by George Lucas was a history lesson of past events changed to a space theme. Ground-breaking in its use of special effects, this is among a handful of the most successful films of all time and is generally considered one of the most influential as well. The film was selected to be preserved by the Library of Congress as part of its National Film Registry in 1989.
The formation of the Galactic Empire has construction and finished the Death Star, a weapon capable of destroying a planet. The Rebel Alliance steals the weapon's plans in the hope of finding a weakness, Princess Leia Organa hides the plans in a R2 Droid which escapes before she is captured and taken to the Death Star. Luke Skywalker buys the droids from some Jawas finds part of the message and meets Obi-Wan Kenobi after R2 runs away. The pair set off on a rescue mission and begin Luke's training as a Jedi and a life changing adventure.
