Details
Rick McCallum is a film producer famous for his work on the Star Wars prequel trilogy films and Special Editions. He prefers to shoot on location (rather than on a soundstage) because he likes the feeling of not being in control and that anything can happen. McCallum sometimes jokes that his sole purpose in life is to make what George Lucas wants to happen. McCallum had a small onscreen role toward the end of Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. On October 30, 2012, Lucasfilm was bought out by The Walt Disney Company & McCallum quietly retired on October 31, 2012 from the company. His retirement was made public when it was mentioned by Steve Sansweet in a podcast. In collaboration with George Lucas, Rick also produced The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, Radioland Murders revised versions of Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi – released in 1997 as the Special Editions, Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999), Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002) and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005), & Red Tails. |
