Exclusive Limited Edition Disney Artist Hand Painted "Defend-Ears of the Kingdom" Cel was Produced exclusively by Disney-MGM Studios Animation Gallery for Disney-MGM studios (renamed Disney Hollywood Studios) for the Star Wars Weekends 2006 event. This cel was personally approved by George Lucas while he still owned LucasFilm. This will only become more sought after as time goes on. Released May 6, 2006. Framed and autographed during Star Wars Weekends by four Star Wars actors who played & the popular characters in the Star Wars Saga, Warwick Davis (Wicket the Ewok), Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), Tim Rose (Admiral Ackbar), Ray Park (Darth Maul), Ahmed Best (Jar Jar Binks), John Ratzenburger (Major Derlin), Matt Lanter (Voice of Anakin Skywalker) Catherine Tabat (Voice of Padme/ Amidala), Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett), Daniel Logan (Young Boba Fett), Amy Allen (Aayla Secura), Silas Carson (Ki-Adi-Mundi / Nute Gunray). This has more historical significance as it was the first Star Wars Disney hand-painted cel ..."Defend-Ears of the Kingdom". Star Wars Weekends 2006 was the event that Mickey Mouse had his debut on a hand painted animation cel as Jedi Mickey and in costume at the event to begin signing autographs, leading parades, greeting guests etc Disney had wanted to create Star Wars and Disney character mash ups and had to get Lucas's permission until they owned LucasFilm. After purchase of LucasFilm, ironically in 2015 at D-23 Disney announced the end to the combo or mash up figures. Apparently due to LucasFilm's new management deciding what Disney does in regards to Star Wars. Jedi Mickey is retired in so many ways. Knight Jedi Mickey - A member of a noble order of the protectors unified by their belief and observance of the Force, the Jedi hearken back to a more civilized, classical time in galactic history. Their order is ancient, spanning over a thousand generations. As the Galactic Republic throve and grew over the centuries, the Jedi came to serve it as guardians of peace and justice. Mickey Mouse proudly represents the order of the Jedi. His lightsaber glows blue as he prepares to join the Defend-Ears of the Kingdom. This cel / cell also features a "hidden Star Wars Character" painted into the background itself. This secret was told to us by the Disney artist who created the background painting. This is cel is very unique with historical significance making it especially important item to all Star Wars, Disney and Star Wars Weekends fans, attendees and collectors. Because Disney announced in 2015 at D-23 the end of Star Wars mash up figures and logos and character greetings. This was the fun part of each Star Wars Weekends. And with the official termination of the Star Wars Weekends announced November 9th, 2015 that makes this Disney Star Wars Weekends cel released during Star Wars Weekends 2006 rare and historical with no more mash ups of Jedi Mickey and no more Star Wars Weekends that increased their uniqueness, value and therefore their desirability to any Star Wars, Disney or Star Wars Weekends attendee or collector now and into the future. This cel was signed during the Star Wars Weekends events in 2013, 2014 and 2015. With no more mash ups and no more Star Wars Weekends or celebrities autograph sessions this increases the uniqueness and therefore its desirability to any collector now and in the future. Add to its value we have never seen anyone else who had this cel autographed by the visiting Star Wars actors during any Star Wars Weekends - ever. The deeper effect of new order star wars In addition it now seems likely that Disney and LucasFilms, which controls the new Star Wars film franchise, will focus on and promote a different agenda with characters they have and will invent. This will most likely reform the Star Wars franchise at Disney as it will be using the movies and animation series characters which they invented and which will be designed to promote new LucasFilms Ltd and Disney world view which will most help their corporations with their world concepts effecting the future. This most likely will increase demand for the George Lucas's Classic Star Wars character items approved by him, from the original trilogies and those with original Star Wars actors' autographs and mash up action and character figures, cels, prints, medium big figurines etc from Star Wars Weekends. The legends of the specialness of this ultimate magical event for Star Wars fans who made the pilgrimage to attend from all over the world will surely grow as time passes and the availability of items from the Star Wars Weekends events will become increasingly rare. It marks the end of both the creative genius of the George Lucas Star Wars era and the magical Disney Star Wars Weekends era too. This figure is from both the George Lucas Star Wars era and the amazing Disney Star Wars Weekends events era. It was personally approved by George Lucas before he sold LucasFilm and autographed by the celebrities who played the well liked characters ever from Star Wars, Warwick Davis (Wicket the Ewok), Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), Tim Rose (Admiral Ackbar), Ray Park (Darth Maul), Ahmed Best (Jar Jar Binks), John Ratzenburger (Major Derlin), Matt Lanter (Voice of Anakin Skywalker) Catherine Tabat (Voice of Padme/ Amidala), Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett), Daniel Logan (Young Boba Fett), Amy Allen (Aayla Secura), Silas Carson (Ki-Adi-Mundi / Nute Gunray). All of these things in one cel which makes it unique and more desirable for collectors as time passes, as no more items from either of those two eras can be produced and no more can be autographed during Star Wars Weekends. Put this one on your wall and you will be able to enjoy your investment in this beauty as it appreciates over the years. This is the first and the only Star Wars Cel/ Cell in the Animation Gallery's Animation series and its by Disney artist who created Mickey Mouse as Jedi Knight in «Defend-ears of the Kingdom». Disney Hollywood Studios Animation Gallery, which created this vintage style artwork. With a limited production and now retired it will become a classic and sought after item.
